Carrie (2013) review

Carrie (2013) IMDB & Rotten Tomatoes 49%
100 minutes run time

Having never seen the original Carrie movie, I knew that it meant I should at least watch the remake. I have always known the story of Carrie even if I hadn’t read the book.

Actors: Chloe Grace Moretz as Carrie White, Judy Greer as Miss Desjardin, Portia Doubleday as Chris Hargensen, Julianne Moore as Margaret White, Gabriella Wilde as Sue Snell, Alex Russell as Billy Nolan, and many more
Director: Kimberly Peirce
Writers: Lawrence D. Cohen and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa for screenplay & Stephen King for novel
Genre: Drama & Horror
Movie Release Date: October 18, 2013
DVD Release Date: January 14, 2014

This movie tells the tale of Carrie who is shy and sheltered by her protective mother. She is picked on at school in the locker room, and this is when her powers begin to reveal themselves. The movie was decently passed.

Throughout the whole movie, all I found myself thinking about was bullying. This movie is an amazing testament to what happens when you push someone too far. It bothers me greatly that people still don’t think that bullying isn’t as horrible as it actually is.

Overall, I think this is a movie worth seeing. I cannot, however, speak to whether or not it is better than the first one or not. I know that Chloe Grace Moretz, who plays Carrie, blew me away. She does an absolutely amazing job in my opinion. That could just be because I remember her from the Kick-Ass series, and the two roles that she plays are quite different from each other. My least favorite parts to this movie is the few very obviously CGI bits and the amount of gore. The second is part of the story, so it would be rather odd if the movie didn’t have any gore. My favorite part is Chloe. Let me know your favorite and least favorite parts of this movie.

Hope you have a cheerful day!
